A POOR COUNTRY OF THE RICH, A RICH COUNTRY OF THE POOR

TRAVEL CHILE, ARGENTINA AND BOLIVIA. BUDGET AND CONCLUSIONS
I've met Blanca, my second niece, newcomer from nothing to the theater of this life.
And I'll say I, I'm your uncle? That is every day more beautiful.
Welcome, Whitey!
Cartalina and White with my mother

And nothing better to overcome jet-lag to land at full fault. Which I took them win after a long time out!

The chupipandi, some time between failures and Wine Fair

Toca do the math and see if this life is maintainable. It has been two and a half months and the total cost including all been of 3750 euritos.
That how I have controlled? Very easy. Consists of adding the money so I took the card that I have and subtract what was left over.

Well, discounted 1660 flights (the intercontinental and three internal flights) accounts that I get are these:

DAILY AVERAGE COST:

CHILE AND ARGENTINA: 50 euros flights.
BOLIVIA: 20 euros flights.

This has to be qualified. Paco Heineken here once told that I was very good “economist”. Well, in Chile and Argentina have traveled with Alexander, which is much better than I.
The spent four years making and miracle of the loaves and fishes, traveling non-stop with a very limited budget. I think I just ate twice at a bar. Always bought at the supermarket, we had a pantry in tow in backpacks and we cooked and we grabbed sandwiches. Whenever we slept in the homes of our generous couchsurferos, and if not, we did in the least expensive we found and triple.

Even with these strictures were spending a fortune, counting of planes 2.000 month, nothing to worry about if we vacation, traveling only one month a year, but difficult to maintain a budget when traveling is your permanent way of life.

On the other hand we find Argentina abusively face until we get access to the black market exchange. The government maintains a forced exchange and unreal, give each 7 dollars for euro. But with inflation 30% and background of Argentines fleeing yard weights and quite deliver 10 for every euro. Economy is about to burst. I wonder how many dollars and euros Argentines have hidden in their mattresses…

Conversely, in Bolivia have lived like a lord. Every day breakfasted, ate and dined out what I wanted, almost always less than one euro. Also, everyone who asked me invited to eat. When I left I have not noticed pafetos beers or pay rounds, and hostels were considerably better but cost between 5 and 10 euros.

I've been a poor country of rich people and rich country of the poor.

But also, I personally, I find much more interesting less globalized countries that rich countries. I provide much more.
Landscapes can be fantastic anywhere, in the channels of Patagonia, in Torres del Paine, El Calafate, Salinas de Uyuni… But daily life, the atmosphere of the streets, human stories with which convives, are much more intense in countries like Bolivia, Laos, Mongolia and Morocco.

In contrast the rich, and in this sense, are much more similar to each other. Globalization makes homogeneous. Outside the distinctive places to visit Buenos Aires is much like a walk in Madrid, Rome or guess, Santiago.

Moral: I prefer the less “developed”. I'd rather be a rich country of poor people in a poor country of rich. But above all, I much prefer.

Here are some photos of the trip:

And come to jump!

Postscript: next destination… Hospitalero volunteer in the Camino de Santiago.
